Global Force

A Force generator is a modulation source driven by physics. Each one is a spring: a trigger kicks it, it flies up, and the spring, damping and gravity bring it back to rest. The 0–1 result can drive any parameter.

Where an LFO repeats the same shape forever, a force responds to events. Trigger it from a kick drum and every hit gives the parameter a physical jolt that settles on its own — and hits that land before it settles add to the motion instead of restarting it.

Open the Generators panel in the sidebar and choose the FORCE tab. Click Add Force Generator to create one; a project can have up to 16.

Each generator is a card showing its number, name, trigger source, a preview of the response to a single hit, and a live output bar. Click a card to expand it. Right-click a card to Rename, Duplicate or Delete it.

The TRIGGER row sets what kicks the spring. Map Trig like any switch — to the kick detector, a MIDI note, a keyboard key, a sequencer step — and each time it turns on, the generator gets one impulse. Click TEST to fire it by hand.

Pick a starting point from the presets, then tune:

PresetCharacter
KickA fast, punchy hit that settles quickly
SnareLike Kick, a little heavier and more damped
BounceFalls back and bounces off the bottom like a dropped ball
Smooth DecayA clean rise and an even fall, no overshoot
WobbleA loose spring that rings for a while
SnapA very stiff, very short flick
FloatA slow, gentle drift up and back down
ControlDescription
StiffnessHow hard the spring pulls back to rest. Higher is faster and tighter
DampingHow quickly motion dies away. Low values ring and wobble, high values settle without overshoot
BounceHow much the value rebounds when it hits 0 or 1. 0 stops dead, 1 bounces back fully

Under Advanced:

ControlDescription
MassHeavier generators respond more slowly and swing further
GravityA constant pull. Negative pulls the value down towards 0; positive pushes it up towards 1
ImpulseHow hard each trigger kicks the spring

Reset stops the motion and returns the value to 0.

Right-click a parameter → Map to… → Global Force, then pick the generator in the mapping panel. In the mapping panel’s source picker, the Force tile sits behind the more toggle of the Global group. The usual range, threshold and smoothing controls apply — see Modulation.

Map several parameters to the same generator and they all move together on every hit.
